Junior Associate Business Administration and Finance for a rapidly growing advisory and product startup in the field of International Cooperation for Sustainable Development

Required Tasks:

Our growing portfolio of advisory services requires equally growing administrative structures. For this, we are looking for a Business Administration and Finance consultant (focus on accounting and financial management) with the interest to help us grow the company, through:

  • Revising and expanding existing organizational structures for financial monitoring (at company and project levels)
  • Increasingly handle and oversee accounting under the supervision of Scio’s Head of Finance and, to this end, also serve as the focal person to Scio’s tax advisor
  • Supporting the management of advisory projects with view on financial administrative issues and financial monitoring (e.g. ensuring project profitability)
  • Identifying administration and financial management processes to be enhanced through digitalization and implement appropriate tools (e.g. for travel cost management)
  • Supporting Scio’s Managing Partner to lead the company’s transition from a civil law partnership (GbR) to a limited liability company (GmbH), including adjustment of the relevant administrative structures

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Background in business administration (oriented apprenticeship or study), with a focus on accounting and financial controlling,
  • At least one year of relevant working experience
  • Thorough and applied knowledge of internal and external accounting, incl. basic understanding of the German tax system and administrative requirements of a GmbH
  • Knowledge of DATEV / UnternehmenOnline is a strong additional asset
  • Very good oral communication and writing skills in English and German
  • Entrepreneurial self-starter with demonstrated ability to work in complex projects and teams in various locations at once,
  • Willingness to take ownership of responsibilities to grow with the firm
  • Commitment to improving the state of the world and to social impact

How and When

We are looking for a consultant to work on the above-mentioned areas for an average 10 hours per week, over an initial period of 3 months (with the possibility to extend). Scheduling of the work is flexible. Starting as soon as possible. The compensation is subject to negotiation.

During this consultancy, the person is expected to work from home. However, office space might be provided if the person becomes a permanent member of the Scio management team.

In addition to the financial remuneration, this role will offer the opportunity to create a productive rapport with the partners and co-founders of Scio Network, and to become a permanent, more senior member of a growing, entrepreneurial founding team doing meaningful, purpose-bound work.
